Situated in the heart of the historic Galle Fort, amidst cobblestoned alleyways shaded by centuries-old banyan trees, AQUA Forte feels like a world away from the bustling streets of the city. Our restaurant perfectly combines old-world charm and contemporary Italian interiors.

The clean white interior, exposed wooden ceiling and large windows make our restaurant feel like an Italian oasis inside an ancient fort. Admire the etchings on our walls by renowned artist Walter Valentini or listen to the gentle burbling of our fountain while you enjoy your Italian meal.

We will be at the centre of your fine dining experience. After a warm welcome and escorting you to your table, we’ll guide you through our menu—should you need assistance.     A Renowned Chef

    Every dish at AQUA Forte has been carefully created, perfected, and prepared by Head Chef Roberto Vicario. Combining traditional Italian cooking techniques, premium ingredients from Italy and fresh produce from Sri Lanka, each dish Roberto creates is a work of art. Our Head Chef is always at the restaurant and will gladly offer you recommendations for your meal.

    A Focused Menu

    Instead of having an extensive menu, we chose to have a relatively small menu and focus on a selection of dishes. We suggest you begin your dining experience with an authentic Italian antipasto. A popular antipasto is our Prosciutto San Daniele E Sottaceti, cured ham served with homemade pickles. Pair this dish with Bottega Gold Prosecco, which has a refreshing floral flavour that beautifully balances the acidity of the pickles.

    After that, browse through our Italian main course dishes. Featuring a variety of homemade pastas, fresh seafood, and Italian meat dishes, treat your palate to a world of flavours at AQUA Forte. For an extra depth of flavour, you must pair your meal with some fine Italian wine. Choose your own or ask for assistance on wine pairings, we’ll be delighted to help you pick the perfect red wine to have with steak or the best wine with your pasta.
